 After 10+ years as a nail technician, I have worked with many salon owners and suppliers. I have come to realize that our Viet community is so far behind others, especially in the Beauty industry. I decided to pursue an education in Entrepreneurship at EMCC and began developing a tool to help our community in Arizona and across the US thrive. Driven by a desire to learn, improve, and build a meaningful connection to the technology field, I signed up for Venture Café on a friend's recommendation. Here, I attended the introduction of Cynthia Pierce’s Resolution Resource Group’s mentorship program. I was moved by one of her mentees’ speeches  about how she had help him  and  I was mesmerized by Cynthia’s program mission. I emailed her after a couple of days of consideration, asking for more information about the program. After our first appointment, I learned that we shared the same values and point of view, not just about business, but also about helping other people. And I was so lucky that she decided to take me under her wing. Cynthia is not an average mentor; she has a very caring character and powerful ways to inspire me. Since my first appointment with her, I have improved and come a long way on my journey. She has set me to a standard I have not reached before, from managing my financial footprint and using AI efficiently to setting up my business plan, creating an LLC, and securing my own office space. She has also introduced me to so many wonderful and talented individuals in the crucial field, who are potentially helping my business grow. Just as she was tailoring the network for my business into a successful empire by connecting me to the right mentors. Cynthia is also very generous, sharing her wisdom on the business profession, including cold calling, sales, and business development. Thanks to this, I have had the courage and foundation to move forward with my business plan. First, survey my clients’ needs via existing connections, identify their pain points, and build a business deal with them. Second, I set up my social media and started posting to market my business. Third, I learned how to deal with suppliers and map out the clients in the area where I want to work. In our upcoming journey, we expect to learn more about the foundations of a business and build my brand as a business development professional for the Viet beauty industry community. With Cynthia's help, I can see that my dream of building a stronger Vietnamese community in Arizona is becoming a reality.
